APPLICATION FOR OWNERSHIP

We do not require an application approval for the purchase of one of our puppies; however, we may want to visit with you a bit. It is our position that you will be a serious and conscientious owner if you have gone to this much effort to find a quality pet and are willing to make the investment necessary to purchase one. You’ve probably already considered the wonderful ways a puppy will enrich your life and add excitement and happiness to your home. But, have you also considered what your puppy will need and expect from you?

Puppies are very much like human babies. They require love, attention, support, and training. If you have children, you may be surprised how much your new puppy will remind you of your own children as they grew through their many stages. For this reason, you must plan carefully for a puppy’s introduction into your home just as you would for a new baby.

Take just a minute to answer the following questions for yourself. This will help you know if you’re prepared to make this commitment.

  • How many people live in your home and what ages are they? Are they each eager to have a new household member?
  • Think about your home and property. Is your home the right size and style for an active new family member? Does your property have a fenced area large enough for daily exercise and play or is there a public area close enough for these activities?
  • Have you ever had a pet before? If so, do you still have the pet and will it be eager to have a new friend?
  • How would you describe the experience?
  • What is/was the best thing about having a pet?
  • What is/was the worst?
  • Why have you decided to get a puppy?
  • Why have you decided on a Goldendoodle rather than another breed?
  • Where will your puppy be housed during the day?
  • Who will take care of the puppy during the day?
  • Where will your puppy be housed during the evening and night?
  • Who will take care of the puppy during the evening and night?
  • Who will take care of the puppy when you are away from home for an extended period (more than 8 hours)?
  • How do you plan to train your puppy?
  • Do you have a veterinarian?
  • Have you considered the cost of taking care of your puppy?

If you have been able to answer these questions in a thoughtful and truthful manner and still find yourself eager to continue, you’re going to have a wonderful relationship with your new puppy!
